Upcoming Releases from Fox Spirit Books (Indie Extravaganza Day 19)

This series has been absolutely excellent for being nosy! I love getting to find out what wonders publishers have in store for us, and we're so lucky that so many have donated proofs or early copies to our raffle so that you lovely people have a chance to win them too. Today's post was guest written for us by the lovely Adele of Fox Spirit Books and I have to say I'm excited!

Fox Spirit believes that day to day life lacks a few things. We need the fantastic, the magical, the mischievous and even a touch of the horrific to stave off the banal and humdrum.

Let a little Fox Spirit into your life as the skulk brings you stories full of wonder and mischief delivered with a sharp bite.

Billy would be an ordinary sixteen your old boy if his best friends in life weren’t monsters from under his bed.

Scarlett wants to be an ordinary sixteen year old girl, but her life is on hold thanks to her younger sister, Hester.

Hester is special. She doesn’t know why. She doesn’t know she’s part of a sinister conspiracy centred around the exclusive Elderigh College. She only knows that if she doesn’t keep quiet, the monsters will find her….

Billy has always seen monsters, but in his case, they have become friends, and often hang out in his backpack. Now sixteen and learning a trade he stumbles across Scarlett, crying. So begins an adventure that sees the two sisters, Billy and his monsters take on forces beyond this world in this young adult fantasy adventure.

Four months ago, Jo Clarke and her friend Lizzy McGowan stole an airship in Amprad and flew off to see the world. Now they’re out of money. But when they down a blimp to rob it, they get much more than they bargained for. Someone has already shot the passengers. Only one wounded young man survives and he’s not talking – except to lie. All Jo and Lizzy salvage are some coded paper that hint about a powerful weapon – a weapon sought after by the emperor of Ampra, the king of Hule and the notorious air pirate Keez. If Jo and Lizzy turn the weapon over to Amprad or Hule, they’ll be pardoned for air piracy. They’ll also start a war. The only way to avoid war is to join up with the cold-hearted Captain Keez – and steal the very weapon everyone wants.

Lizzy and Jo have had several adventures in short stories, but this is their first full length outing, full of airships, pirates, political intrigue and cover to cover adventure, and maybe just a hint of romance. Although Skytown is an adult novel it is entirely suitable for young adult readers.

We chose these two books for the raffle prize because they we think they make a great ‘suitable for all ages’ showcase of the sort of stories, characters and indeed, spirit, we love here at Fox Spirit Books. Both tie into to other titles, Skytown to some of our anthologies, and Billy’s Monsters takes place several years later, in the same world as the much more adult novel The Office of Lost and Found, but you lose nothing by diving straight into either as the first introduction. If these titles appeal you will find a lot to love over at Fox Spirit Books

Announcing another raffle prize!

As mentioned above Fox Spirit Books have very kindly donated a copy of both Skytown and Billy's Monsters plus some of their lovely bookmarks to go along with them. These will be included in prize bundle 3, along with the gorgeous Seren boxset from yesterday and a host of other goodies.
