Ninja Book Box was born out of our desire to discover titles from the UK's many wonderful independent publishers. Our passion for the concept was also fuelled once we discovered just how many of these publishers actually exist!
We looked around to see if a subscription service dedicated to independent publishers already existed, but at the time all we could find was the services offered by publishers themselves. We wanted something that encompassed all genres and could potentially involve any and all independent publishers. We also loved the idea of supporting other small businesses, and so in September 2016 we launched our Kickstarter to fund the first box.
By the time the Kickstarter ended we were over 300% funded and putting together our November box. Each of our boxes includes at least one book from a different independent publisher from a range of genres, plus useful and beautiful gift items themed around the book and produced by UK based small businesses. Our major aim is to help people broaden their bookish horizons and support all the wonderful things independent publishers are working tirelessly to achieve.
We are currently a quarterly subscription service with a couple of one-off additional boxes each year. Located in Kent, we focus on supporting UK based small businesses, craftspeople and independent publishers. You can find our definition of an independent publisher here.
